Level 9 · Lesson 13 动量词
Verbal classifiers
次、遍、下、趟、顿数的不是东西,是动作,它们跟在动词后边。
次, 遍, 下, 趟 and 顿 count events rather than things, and they stand after the verb.
你已经会了 · You already know this
你早就会说“我去过三次北京”“这本书我看了两遍”“请等一下”。这里的“次、遍、下”跟“三本书”里的“本”不一样:“本”数的是书,“次”数的是“去”这个动作发生了几回。数动作的量词,就叫动量词。
You have been saying 我去过三次北京, 这本书我看了两遍 and 请等一下 since Arc A. The 次, 遍 and 下 in those sentences are not like the 本 of 三本书: 本 counts books, while 次 counts how many times the going happened. A classifier that counts actions is a 动量词.
规则 · The rules
名量词跟着名词走:三本书、两张纸、一条鱼。动量词跟着动词走:去三次、看两遍、等一下。同样是量词,一个数东西,一个数事情。
A 名量词 travels with a noun: 三本书, 两张纸, 一条鱼. A 动量词 travels with a verb: 去三次, 看两遍, 等一下. Same word class, two different jobs — one counts objects, the other counts events.
位置很固定:动词在前,数量在后。“我去过三次”不能说成“我三次去过”。这跟名量词正好相反——名量词站在名词前边,动量词站在动词后边。
The position is fixed: verb first, quantity after. 我去过三次 cannot be reordered to 我三次去过. Note the mirror image — a nominal classifier stands before its noun, a verbal classifier stands after its verb.
宾语是普通名词,动量短语站在它前边:我看了三次电影。宾语是代词,动量短语只能站在它后边:我找了他两次。地名两边都行:我去过三次北京,也可以说我去过北京三次。
Ordinary noun object: the count goes in front of it — 我看了三次电影. Pronoun object: the pronoun must come first — 我找了他两次, never 我找了两次他. Place names accept both orders: 我去过三次北京 and 我去过北京三次 are equally good.
次最常用,问“几次”就用它。遍强调整个过程:这本书我看了两遍,是从第一页看到最后一页。下表示很短的一动:他敲了三下门;“一下”还能把话说得客气一些:请等一下。趟是来回一次:我去了一趟银行。顿数的是饭:我一天吃三顿饭。
次 is the general-purpose one, and answers 几次. 遍 insists on the whole run: 这本书我看了两遍 means first page to last, twice. 下 is one short movement — 他敲了三下门 — and 一下 also softens a request: 请等一下. 趟 is one there-and-back trip: 我去了一趟银行. 顿 counts meals (and scoldings): 我一天吃三顿饭.
